Esther Garza

Esther has loved to dance since she was a toddler. She embarked on her dancing journey in 1998 at Footlight Dance Centre under the direction of Hilarie Neely in Hailey, Idaho. She initially began training in jazz and pilates, and after a couple of years with Footlight, she then took up Hip Hop, as well as modern and ballet classes. During Esther's sophomore year of high school, she had come to find that the Hip Hop instructor would be leaving the company and that they would be suspending Hip Hop from the program. This did not sit well with her. She immediately applied for a scholarship from the Sun Valley Center for the Arts to attend a summer camp at the US Performing Arts at Cal State Long Beach in California. She received a full scholarship and attended the camp with Ronnie Reddick, Shane Sparks, Moshe Amundson and a few other very talented choreographers. Esther returned from California and took over the Hip Hop program of Footlight for the last two years of her high school career. During that time, she went to multiple conventions training with people such as Wade Robson, Brian Friedman, Mia Michaels, Laurie Ann Gibson, Dave Scott, and Shane Sparks. After graduating from Wood River High School, Esther moved to Santa Rosa, California to attend Santa Rosa Junior College and auditioned and made the Ensemble Company for the school. During college, she would make trips to San Francisco to dance with Ronnie Reddick at City Slam as well as with Funkanometry. Afterwards, she wanted to continue to further her repertoire, so she took off to the Big Apple and studied at Broadway Dance Center and Steps on Broadway.

In 2010, Esther moved to Boise, Idaho and taught at multiple dance studios including Impulse Dance Academie where she instructed competition Hip Hop, and also at Ballet, Idaho. Esther started working for the City of Boise and became the main instructor for the City in 2011. She helped run the entire dance program for the City of Boise until 2019 when she moved to Georgetown. Esther is a full-time single mother to her beautiful daughter Morello. She is excited to be a part of Dance Empower and to help each student she comes in contact with further their knowledge in dance and team building skills.
